DELAND, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball team took part in their second competitive game of the season tonight in an exhibition at Stetson. The Sailfish ultimately fell 77-46 against their DI opponents out of the Atlantic Sun, but there were positive signs early in the game as the Sailfish outscored the Hatters in the second quarter and were within striking distance at the half down 34-25.
The Sailfish were led in scoring by
Avree Carpenter, who scored 11 points on 4-of-12 shooting and
Ciara Cumbie who scored nine, going 3-of-6 from the field. The 'Fish did a better job keeping their opponent off of the offensive glass than in their first game against Vanderbilt behind eight rebounds from
Victoria Self. PBA shot 25 percent from the field on the night and 16 percent from behind the arc.
After wrapping up their preseason schedule against two DI opponents, the Sailfish will begin their regular season this weekend as they travel to Boca Raton to face Benedict on Nov. 8 and Central State on Nov. 9 as part of the SSC vs. SIAC conference challenge.
