Sailfish Can't Slow Down Sharks, Fall 95-70

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball dropped a Sunshine State Conference contest to Nova Southeastern on Wednesday, falling 95-70 inside Rubin Arena.  The Sailfish fall to 2-14 with the loss while Nova Southeastern improves to 10-7 on the season.

The NSU offense got off to a good start on the night, as they scored 21 points in the opening quarter and led 21-11 after one.  The Sharks kept it going in the second quarter as they led 43-28 at the half.  Mina Salhia played a solid first half offensively as she led the Sailfish with 10 points.  Jonika Garvin scored seven points and added seven boards in the opening half for the 'Fish.

The second half was much faster paced offensively, as the Sharks put up 52 points and the Sailfish scored 42 of their own.  The Sailfish had no answer for Christen Prasse on the night, as the Shark guard finished with a triple-double, scoring 10 points, collecting 12 rebounds, and dishing out a game-high 14 assists to lead NSU on the night.

Salhia finished with a season-high 17 points to lead the Sailfish on the night, as she shot 7-for-14 from the field.  Garvin struggled from the field on the night but still finished with 16 points and eight rebounds.  Victoria Self got off to a slow start but scored 10 points in the second half to finish with 14.

The Sailfish will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 26 as they will travel to St. Leo, Fla. to take on the Lions at 5:30 p.m.
