WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer continued to succeed offensively Wednesday night in a dominating 6-0 victory over Ave Maria. Six unique Sailfish scored including Sunshine State Conference goal leader Jaycie Tate who tallied her fifth of the season.
PBA entered the scoresheet in the 11th minute with Thorkatla Halldorsdottir's first goal of the season. Tota finished the ball with a low strike to the left of the keeper on a lofted cross into the box from Kylie Meola.
Tate extended her scoring streak to three games in the 15th minute with a header into the corner on a Kylee Rullo cross. Tate now leads the Sunshine State Conference in goals (5) and goals per game (.833).
The Sailfish scored back-to-back goals in the 37th and 38th minutes. Trine Seistrup assisted Karina Williams to put the Sailfish up 3-0 and Seistrup put PBA up 4-0 one minute later off of Cajsa Lundstrom's saved shot.Â
Palm Beach Atlantic's offense kept up the pace in the second half. Meagan Cameron scored her first goal of 2018 by slotting a Kelly Giddes cross into the right corner of the frame, increasing the Sailfish lead to five.
Cajsa Lundstrom scored the jaw-dropping goal of the game in the 87th minute, looping a set piece from outside of the box into the top corner of the frame. Her second score of the season gave the Sailfish the final goal in the 6-0 rout.
The Sailfish tallied 40 shots and held the Gyrenes to just three. Ave Maria goalkeeper Molly Jensen recorded 15 saves on Palm Beach Atlantic's 22 shots on goal.
Palm Beach Atlantic will travel to Melbourne on Saturday to face off in their conference opener against Florida Tech. Fans can tune in to the SSC Digital Network at 7 p.m. on Saturday to watch the Sailfish in action.
