Sailfish Fall in Defensive Struggle with Embry-Riddle

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team fell in a defensive battle with Embry-Riddle University Wednesday evening, allowing a first half goal and falling by a 1-0 final. The Sailfish fall to 4-6-1 and remain 1-3-1 in Sunshine State Conference play as Wednesday's match was a non-conference one. The Eagles improve to 7-3-1 on the season.

Rain fell throughout the first half of play, as nobody was able to find the back of the net until the 38th minute, as Andrea Froshaug headed a corner kick into the corner of the net. The goal was Froshaug's fifth of the season. Nobody was able to score the rest of the half, as Isabelle Granlund made four saves, including two diving saves to keep the Eagle lead at 1-0.

The second half was more of the same, as neither team was able to get much going offensively. Both teams only managed one shot on goal in the half, as the final score stood a 1-0 in favor of the Eagles. Shannon Berg had the best scoring chance for the 'Fish, as her free kick from just outside the box was saved by a diving Fanny Kristiansson with under a minute to play in the match.

Saturday is senior night for the Sailfish, as the team will take on Barry University at home at 7 p.m. The match will also serve as Vs. Cancer night, as there will be no admission charge, but donations will be accepted for the Vs. Cancer Foundation.
