Box Score

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Behind a balanced scoring attack and a superior second-half effort, the Lynn University women’s basketball team came away with a 63-57 victory on Saturday afternoon over Palm Beach Atlantic University at the Rubin Arena. Trailing 30-22 at halftime, the Knights stormed back in the second-half and handed the Fish their sixth straight loss.

A very low scoring affair early on, both teams struggled shooting the ball in the first-half as LU tallied a 31% shooting percentage (9-29) while PBA managed a 36% (10-28) shooting clip.

In the second-half the Knights would improve their shooting fortunes while taking advantage of the Fish in the paint as LU out-scored PBA 32-16 in the paint.

PBA was led by three double-figures scorers including a game-high 17 points from senior Melissa Perez. Electric in the first-half with 14 points including hitting 3-of-4 shots from beyond the arc, the Knights would better neutralize the senior Miami Lakes product in the second-half.

Also reaching double-figures for the Fish was 13 points from junior center Kristine Webb and 10 points from freshman point guard Lynsey Poole. Webb also pulled down 10 rebounds for her second consecutive double-double performance. Webb also swatted four shots. Junior Brooke Burgess finished just outside of double-figures with nine points while pulling down four rebounds.

The Knights were led by their own trio of double-digit scorers from the starting lineup while adding another off the bench. Team-high honors of 15 points came from Crystal Ahmed and Chelsea Patterson while Jade Williams also chipped in 13 points. Madeleine Doyle adding in 14 points off the LU bench while also grabbing seven boards.

PBA returns to the Rubin Arena next week as they host Florida Southern College on Tuesday, December 2nd at 7 pm. They will also welcome in Florida Memorial College on Wednesday, December 3rd as part of a PBA basketball double-header.
