Lovell and Leuthner Earn CSC All-District Honors

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team had two individuals earn Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators. Justin Lovell and Stanton Leuthner earned the recognition for their work in the classroom and on the field this season.

To be eligible, the student-athlete must meet athletic benchmarks. student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games/contests played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games/contests. Pitchers must make 17 appearances or pitch 25 innings. Academically, the student must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, posting a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better.

Lovell recently graduated after a four-year career with the Sailfish. He made 52 appearances and finished with a 6-3 record in his time with PBA. He recorded 117 strikeouts in 107.1 innings, holding opposing batters to a .245 average. This season he pitched in 14 games, 31.1 innings, and finished with a 2-1 record while striking out 28 batters. His best outing of the year was at Barry where he earned the win going 3.2 innings and striking out six Buccaneer batters. Academically, the Florida native graduated with a degree in Accounting and was named to the SSC Honor Roll three times.

Leuthner started 36 of the 37 games he played in during the season for the Sailfish. He had 37 hits with 24 runs batted in and 15 runs scored. The New Jersey native hit .280 and had a .903 fielding percentage playing at shortstop. Leuthner had ten multi-hit games including a season-high four hits against Felician on March 13. Stanton graduated with a master's degree in Ethics and Organizational Behavior.
