Abigail Hews is the Director for Campus Recreation at Palm Beach Atlantic University and began her duties in May 2014 after serving one year as the Assistant Director.
No stranger to Palm Beach Atlantic, Hews served from 2011-13 as the Resident Director of Oceanview Hall and a PBA Intern for First Year Experience (FYE) before accepting her position in Campus Recreation.
Her position oversees a large staff of student employees focusing on intramurals, club sports and recreational programs for the general student body, faculty and staff.
A native of Clive, Iowa, Hews was a two-sport standout at LeTourneau University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She excelled as a setter on the Yellow Jackets volleyball team where she set multiple career records including the most assists in program history. She also was a member of the LeTourneau women’s golf team and would go on to be named the Southwest Conference Senior Female Scholar-Athlete Award honoree.
Following her time in Longview, Texas as an undergraduate student, she would go on to earn a master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Development from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana.
While at Taylor she served as a graduate assistant in the Trojans Athletic Department while focusing much of her efforts as the Director of Intramurals.
Beyond her work Hews enjoys traveling and spending time with her family including her three siblings as well as her six nieces and nephews.
