Chi Ly enters his sixth season in 2010-2011 as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Ly has also recently been promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Academic Support after serving the last two years as an Assistant A.D. overseeing the academic progress of PBA's student-athletes.
Having built two very solid programs in a short amount of time, Ly is coming off a historic season which witnessed him leading both teams to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championship match while helping the women's team advance to the NCAA South Regional tournament for the first time in school history. The Sailfish men's tennis team became the first male sport to be crowned NCCAA National Champions with the title in 2010 while the women came away with a runner-up finish at the NCCAA Championship in Moblie, Alabama as well.
After taking the men's tennis team to the NCAA Regional Tournament for the first time in 2008, Ly's leadership of the women's team landed them in the highly-competitive postseason event for the first time in 2010. The Lady Sailfish also made history in not only making the tournament but earning a first-round win over Delta State University, becoming the first PBA team to register a NCAA postseason victory.
In his role as the Associate A.D. for Academic Support, Ly oversees the academic progress of PBA’s 160+ student-athletes while also interacting with faculty and academic administrators as a way of monitoring the success of each student-athlete.
In addition, Ly also helps lead the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as they continue to help aide the development of PBA athletics.
Ly stresses hard work, ethics, competitive cauldron within the team and mental toughness as the foundation to be successful for his programs.
Coach Ly joined PBA after being on staff at Alma College in Alma, Michigan, where he served as the head coach of both the Scots’ women's tennis and women’s soccer teams for eight years.
Ly possesses a diverse background in the areas of academics, athletics and coaching. After spending a year as a graduate assistant at the University of Delaware, Ly was the head of the math department at Bible Baptist High School in Shiremanstown, Pennsylvania, while also coaching the men’s soccer team from 1990-1992.

During his seven seasons at Messiah, the women’s team became a top contender in the MAC Commonwealth Conference and compiled an overall record of 47-32. Ly also guided the Messiah men's team to their first conference championship in 1995 along with a school-best record of 12-2.
