Monette Preston joins the Palm Beach Atlantic University athletics staff for the 2014-15 school year as the new Athletics Administrative Assistant.
Preston adds a wealth of knowledge and experience to the staff, and will assist the PBA administrative team in the day-to-day operation of the department.
She joins Palm Beach Atlantic after working in the Parks and Recreation Departments in both West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens. While working in WPB, Preston assisted with the direction of the city's youth and adult athletics leagues, the coordination of summer camps and special events, and the daily operations of the Recreation deparment. She also supervised the athletics and community center staff, and the volunteer coaches and referees. Upon moving to the City of Palm Beach Gardens, Monette served as the Customer Service Specialist for the Recreation Deparment. Her main focus was to oversee the front desk operations, serve as a member of the city's Spirit Team - an organization that helps build morale for the employees and raise money for charities, and serve as the liaision between parents and coaches.
Preston's work in collegiate athletics goes back to her undergraduate days at the University of Florida, where she assisted the women's soccer and softball programs as the Program Assistant Intern. While working for head coaches Becky Burleigh and Tim Walton, Monette assisted with the daily operations for the teams, helped coaches with compliance and recruiting, and also organized team travel arrangements. She also gained experience overseeing sports camp operations and serving as the liaison between parents and the university.
Monette graduated from Florida with a BS in Sport Management with a minor in Business Administration in 2007 before returning back to South Florida to complete her masters at Florida International University. Preston received her MS in Recreation and Sport Management with concentration in Public Administration in 2009.
A West Palm Beach native, Preston graduated from Lake Worth High School where she participated in volleyball, flag football and basketball. She lives locally with her daughters, Chloe and Chelsea.
