MELBOURNE, Fla.- Florida Tech had their way with the Sailfish Friday afternoon, as Palm Beach Atlantic (15-11) fell to the Panthers (13-16) 8-1 in the series opener at Nancy Bottge Field.

It took the Sailfish six innings to muster up their first run of the ballgame, as Kayla Knight doubled to left center scoring Magnolia West. Knight finished the day 1-3 at the plate, with West finished 2-3 as well, as the duo combined for all three of PBA’s hits.

The Panthers jumped out to a 6-0 lead in Friday afternoon’s game before allowing the lone Sailfish run, as they scored three in the first inning, three in the fourth inning, and their final two in the sixth inning.

Already up 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Julianna Goldberg hit a two-run shot to left center to put the Panthers up 3-0 early on. After adding their fourth run of the game in the bottom of the fourth, FIT’s Karina Suicava hit the Panther’s second two-run homer to let field of the game, putting FIT up 6-0.

Leading 6-1 with two-on and two outs, the Panthers were able to capitalize again, singling to left field bringing home a pair, giving Florida Tech the 8-1 victory.
