HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Palm Beach Atlantic men’s tennis won for the fourth time in five matches in South Carolina, defeating Eastern Nazarene 8-1.
The ‘Fish (6-3) were able to get some fresh faces into their lineup with Nick Torres making his season debut. Torres was paired with Thomas Salmon in doubles play with the duo winning 8-2 over Shaw Campbell and Davis Steelman. All three doubles matches saw new pairings take the court with Rafael Lenz teaming with Carlos Niemeyer and Pietro de Silva partnering with Carlos Meneses. Both of the new teams were victorious.
Salmon was one of four straight sets winners for the Sailfish in singles play, defeating Laurent Ruttkowski 6-0, 6-0 at the number three position. Carlos Meneses was also a winner, taking down Kyle Pierson 6-3, 6-2 at number five. ENC (7-2) was able to pick up only one point, winning number six singles.
Carlos Niemeyer needed three sets but picked up his first victory of the season, 3-6, 6-2, 10-6 over Santiago Camero. Pato Zarazua and Philipp Hoffmann had little trouble earning victories at the top two positions.
The Sailfish will have one more match in South Carolina before returning to Florida, taking on West Liberty on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
