HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Palm Beach Atlantic men’s tennis was no match for NCAA D1 East Carolina on Thursday as the Pirates swept the ‘Fish 9-0.
PBA didn’t take a set in singles play with Carlos Niemeyer having the best success individually. Niemeyer made his first start of the season, getting slotted in at number six and despite the loss to James Ling, he was able to win seven games in the match, falling 6-4, 6-3.
The Sailfish played the Pirates tight in doubles at both the one and two positions. Rafael Lenz and Bernardo Ferreira were outmatched by Freddie McGeehan and Ling in the top position, 8-5. At number two Pato Zarazua and Pietro de Silva came up just short against Vlad Anghel and Fredric Lehfeldt, losing 8-6.
The ‘Fish fall to 5-3 on the season while ECU improved to 10-3.
PBA is back in action on Friday morning, taking on Eastern Nazarene at 8:30 a.m. and close out their South Carolina trip on Saturday against West Liberty.
