VIERA, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's golf climbed three spots on the leaderboard Tuesday, as their final round 293 was the 4th best in the 15-team field and propelled them to an 11th place finish. The tournament was won by Florida Southern College, who's final-round 295 held off Lynn University to clinch the victory. The Sailfish will be off until March 19 when they will open play at the Embry-Riddle University Eagle Invitational.
Day 2: Palm Beach Atlantic shot a very solid final round 293 on Tuesday, making large improvements from their Monday scores all across the board. Aaron Wilson shot his best round of the season to date, a two-under par 70 to lead the ‘Fish on the day. Daniel Langley improved greatly from his first two rounds to shoot a 73 in the final round. David Liu, completing another solid tournament as the most reliable Sailfish golfer, shot 74 to finish the tournament at 10-over par and in the top-20 on the leaderboard.
Ben Murray rebounded nicely from his Monday rounds to shoot a final round 76. David Jizdny and Alex Wilson, who was competing as an individual in the event, both shot rounds of eight-over par on the day.
Day 1: Palm Beach Atlantic men’s golf opened up play during their Spring Break Monday morning as they completed the first two rounds of the Panther Invitational hosted by Florida Tech. The ‘Fish currently sit in 15th position, as they have one round to go in the tournament, which will be played tomorrow. Florida Southern leads the tournament as they sit 11-over par, five shots ahead of Lynn University who is in second place.
David Liu, the PBA Student Athlete of the Month for February, is off to another solid start for the ‘Fish as he shot back-to-back rounds of 76 and sits in 18th place on the overall leaderboard at eight-over par. Aaron Wilson also finished with solid scores on the day, as he finished with a first-round 82 and followed it up with a second-round score of 77.
Course conditions were tough on Monday, as almost all golfers in the field shot higher than their season averages. David Jizdny shot rounds of 83 and 80 on the day as he sits T70 on the leaderboard. Daniel Langley finished the day with rounds of 88 and 80 and Ben Murray rounded out the scoring for the ‘Fish with rounds of 90 and 86.
Alex Wilson, competing as an individual in the event, had a solid day on the course shooting rounds of 81 and 82.
The tournament will conclude with a final round on Tuesday morning, as the ‘Fish will look to climb up the leaderboard. Final round results will be posted upon conclusion of the round.
