MARION, Ind.- With the Sailfish seemingly in full control at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Championship Final against Olivet Nazarene University leading 4-1, it took a big-time comeback from the Tigers as they went on to claim the victory and championship by a final score of 5-4.

The Sailfish dominated the first two doubles matchups as Krasimir Atanasov and James Buerkle cruised to an 8-1 victory at #1-doubles followed by a similar result of 8-2 by Luke Bolanos and John Tilton at #2-doubles. ONU came out on top 8-2 with Mark Bell and Hugo Moriya taking down Frankie Moulton and Tyler Dealy in doubles #3.

In singles play, Atanasov and Bolanos made quick work of their opponents at #1 and #2 singles respectively before the Sailfish ran into trouble in the later sets of the match as the Tigers prevailed at #3-#6 singles to take the match by a 5-4 final tally.

Moriya and Bell paced ONU with three-set victories at #4 and #5-singles over the likes of Moulton and Tilton while Tigers player Chris Tudor won 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 against Buerkle to clinch the victory. ONU’s three NCCAA All-Americans played #3-#5 in singles with both Sebastian Esquentini and Hugo Moriya earning First-Team All-American status.

This marks the third time in four years in which PBA has been the NCCAA Championship Runner-Up.
