GREENVILLE, S.C.- With the Palm Beach Atlantic University baseball team making their final preparations for their upcoming trip to the 2009 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), the team received word on their seed and opening round matchup for the double-elimination tournament starting Wednesday.
The Sailfish, who swept their way through the NCCAA South Regional in dominating fashion to clinch their birth in the ten-team national tournament, will open up on Wednesday morning at 10:00 am EST versus host Geneva College. PBA is the #9-seed in the tournament while Geneva, who received an automatic berth as the host school, was awarded the #8 overall-seed.
The two teams will square off at Prasco Park, the official tournament site for the tournament along with another field, Legacy Field, which is also on the property. The facility is located in Mason, Ohio.
The Golden Tornadoes is the mascot of Geneva College and they are a NCAA Division III school who plays in the competitive Presidents Athletic Conference. They enter the national tournament with a 22-16 overall record.
After playing their contest at 10 am, the winner will move on to take on #1-seeded Malone University who along with #2-seed Spring Arbor University received a first-round bye in the tournament. The contest versus Malone will take place at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, also at Prasco Park.
Should the Sailfish lose their opening round game, they would forced to try and make their way back through the loser’s bracket as they would take on the loser of #4-seed Bluefield College and #5-seed Olivet Nazarene University.
All Palm Beach Atlantic games will be broadcast live and podcasted on the Sailfish Radio Network with Michael Brown providing the call as the Sailfish look to make it two in a row in terms of NCCAA National Championships after the PBA Softball team was crowned champs last week.
