MARION, Ind.- Formerly a thorn in the side of the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s tennis team, the Sailfish finally were able to push past North Greenville University on Wednesday evening as they defeated NGU to earn a trip to the NCCAA National Men’s Tennis Championship on Thursday. The Crusader’s had defeated PBA in the championship in both 2006 and 2007.

The day did not start in the way that head coach Chi Ly or the Sailfish had hoped however as they dropped their first match of the tournament as they were defeated by Olivet Nazarene University by a final tally of 5-3.

With their backs against the wall however, the Fish stormed back to earn the 5-0 sweep of North Greenville in the night cap. Because of rain, all matches had to be moved indoors with tournament play not ending until near midnight.

Against NGU, the Sailfish swept all three doubles matches with senior James Buerkle and junior Frankie Moulton winning their singles matches to clinch the victory. Buerkle won at #6-singles by a 6-2, 6-2 tally while Moulton won at #4 by the scores of 7-5, 7-5.

PBA will take on Olivet Nazarene University on Thursday in the championship final. Stay tuned for information on their NCCAA Championship quest.
