MARION, Ind.- With rain and cold conditions finding its way through the Midwest on Wednesday, all participating teams at the NCCAA National Tennis Championships had to make their way indoors to compete in the final day of pool play. After dropping their first match in pool play to Dallas Baptist University, the Sailfish came back with heart in their final match to defeat Olivet Nazarene University to stamp their ticket to the championship on Thursday.

The morning session ended in a 5-0 loss for PBA against DBU. No official statistics are currently available on the match outcomes.

The evening session did not end until nearly midnight with all the participating teams forced to move to an indoor facility. Palm Beach Atlantic did however come away with a 5-1 victory over Olivet Nazarene University. PBA also defeated ONU earlier in the season in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Number one doubles partners Montse Ripoll and Lina Rubiano teamed up to earn the first victory while Natalie Aleman and Amber Braaten also came away with a victory at #3-doubles.

Ripoll, Rubiano, and Aleman, the top three singles performers for PBA, all earned victories to officially put the Sailfish back in the championship flight. The Sailfish are looking to avenge not only their runner-up finish last season but also will be taking on Dallas Baptist University in this year’s final who was the only team to defeat PBA in pool play.

Stay tuned to the PBA athletics website as the Sailfish seek out their second-ever NCCAA National Championship in women’s tennis.
