BOCA RATON, Fla.- Finishing up what was a suspended game a few weeks ago, the Palm Beach Atlantic University and Lynn University softball teams got together on Monday afternoon to finish up game one that was stopped in third inning because of rain. Leading 1-0 the Fish tacked on another run before seeing LU storm back with six runs unanswered to post a 6-2 game one victory.

Mari Stokes came home to score the game’s first  run in the first inning as she trotted home after an illegal pitch by starting hurler Amber Havnar. Stokes extended the Sailfish lead in the third inning when she came sprinting around the bases after a double from shortstop Caitlin Bouschet.

PBA right-hander Ashley Jones (20-9) started off dominant as she was tossing a perfect game through four innings including seven strikeouts. Trouble found its way to the PBA hurler however in the fifth inning as the Fighting Knights plated four runs to take a lead they would never relinquish.

The four runs came in on two-run doubles from Jordan Angel and Meaghan Osborne. LU added two more runs in the sixth inning when Havnar started the frame with a single then came home to score on a RBI double from Rachel Larkins while Angel struck again with a run-scoring single to plate Larkins.

Cristie Kaufman (10-10) relieved Havnar in the pitcher’s circle and threw well enough for the victory as she allowed just three hits and no earned runs with two walks and one strikeout in 4.2 innings of work.
