Box Score

SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla.- Flagler College scored a single run in each of the first five innings on Friday evening while holding the Sailfish bats down enough to earn a 5-2 series-opening victory on Friday evening at Flagler Stadium.

Palm Beach Atlantic sent freshman right-hander Logan Thomas to the hill as he attempted to get the schedule three-game series started off right for the Fish.

While effective, Thomas was unable to consistently keep the Saints bats at bay as they tallied five runs on eight hits in seven innings off the Sailfish right-hander. Thomas allowed four earned runs while walking five and striking out one batter. Dustin Ducasse closed out the evening for PBA with a scoreless inning of work.

The Sailfish never quite figured out Flagler starter Dustin Donmoyer as he tallied eight strong innings while allowing only four hits and one earned run as he utilized a solid defensive effort behind him as he walked only two and struck out two batters.

PBA scored their only run off Donmoyer in the third inning when Vasilios Mila singled home Michael Kutch who had singled earlier in the inning.

Flagler reliever J.W. Deighton came on for the save and despite allowing a ninth inning run to the Fish to cut the lead to 5-2, Deighton did close the door for the save. Jeff Moyer started the inning with a triple and came in to score on a sacrifice fly by Keith Clabaugh.

Mila and Moyer both collected two hits to lead the five-hit attack for PBA.

The Saints and Sailfish will start their Saturday double-header at 1 pm.
