DAVIE, Fla.- Once again sending sophomore Taylor McBath to the hill for the final game of a three game series, the Palm Beach Atlantic University baseball team was hoping to earn a victory in their finale against the #22-ranked Nova Southeastern University Sharks. Despite another solid effort from McBath, the Fish came away empty handed as NSU prevailed 3-1 in game two of the double-header on Friday evening.
Nova Southeastern improved their team mark to 19-2 on the season as they used two first inning runs against McBath to set the tone early. McBath (2-2) would settle down from there as he allowed only one more run, a sixth inning run via a solo homerun, the rest of the way. He finished with six solid innings, allowing only six hits and two earned runs while striking out seven batters and walking only one.
NSU used a trio of hurlers highlighted by a five inning stint from Scott Woodrey (2-0) followed by scoreless one inning outings from Zach North and Sean Albury to close out the contest. It was Albury’s fifth save the of the season.
PBA collected four hits while the Sharks managed just six base-knocks.
The Sailfish will take the remainder of the weekend off after a busy week of action already having taken place. They will be back on the diamond on Tuesday, March 10th when they play host to Florida Memorial College at 6 p.m. That ballgame is slated to take place at PBCC.
