Women's Tennis Dominates, Ends Losing Streak

ORLANDO, Fla.- After over a week of battling tough Sunshine State Conference opponents, the Palm Beach Atlantic Women’s tennis team looked to get some relief against Brandeis University. With several dominating performances, the Fish were able to get back on track with a solid 7-2 victory.
The Fish got started off with a 3-0 lead by tearing through the afternoon’s doubles matches. The tandems of Montse Rippol/Olga Alekseeva, Lina Rubiano/Natalie Aleman, and Katie Livesay/Pamela Artigas defeated Brandeis University opponents by a combined total of 24-11.
In singles play, the Fish continued their dominance by building a 6-0 lead with three straight victories by Pamela Artigas, Lina Rubiano, and Olga Alekseeva. Artigas left no doubts in her match, as she bullied her way to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Davida Judelson. Rubiano followed by clinching the match with a commanding 6-1, 6-3 victory over Ariana Sanai. Alekseeva extended the lead with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Gabrielle Helfgott.
In the last match of the evening, #1 singles star Montse Ripoll capped of an impressive overall performance with a tough 6-4, 7-6 (13) victory over Rachel Rasman.
With the big time performance, the Sailfish improve their season record to 2-4. They will be in action again on Saturday, February 21, as they travel to St. Petersburg to take on the Tritons of Eckerd College at 2:00 pm. Visit www.pbasailfish.com for all the match details.
