Lady Sailfish Stumble on the Road Against Palm Beach County Rival Lynn University

BOCA RATON, Fla.- After a week long break for final exams, the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s basketball team got back out on the road on Saturday afternoon as they took on rival Lynn University at the de Hoernle Center. From the start the Fighting Knights would establish their offensive rhythm and ride it all the way to a 85-45 victory.
Lynn (6-1) has now swept the season series against PBA (2-9) after narrowly defeating the Fish 63-57 in their first meeting back on November 29th at the Rubin Arena.
The Fish were led by senior Chanell Byrd who collected the only double-figures scoring on the afternoon with 11 points. Junior center Kristine Webb added in eight points and eight rebounds while freshman Hayley Fields returned to the lineup with eight points as well off the bench.
The Knights were paced by four starters reaching double-figures including a game-high 22 points from center Eve ESkardzinska who connected on 8-of-14 from the field while also hitting 2-of-3 shots from beyond the arc. Chelsea Patterson, Jade Williams, and Crystal Ahmed chipped in 15, 14, and 11 points respectively.
Leading 39-21 at the half, the Knights utilized a superior shooting effort to their big home victory over PBA as they shot 51% (33-65) from the field for the contest compared to that of 25% (16-64) for the Fish. The Knights also grabbed a 53-32 rebounding advantage.
The Fish must now prepare for a busy upcoming week as they will welcome in the University of West Florida on Monday, December 15th for a 6 pm tip-off as well as a Tuesday evening match up with Central Missouri University and Eckerd College on December 17th and 19th respectively.
