KISSIMMEE, Fla.- After a disappointing loss in the opening round of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) national tournament on Wednesday evening, the senior-laden Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic University came through with a solid 2-0 victory over #8-seed Mid-America Christian University on Thursday evening.
With one game left to play, the Sailfish will seek out a victory on Saturday, December 6th as they will take on Trinity International University at 11 am. Friday will feature the eight men’s and women’s teams participating in a Community Service Project in Kissimmee.
The Fish tallied all the scoring they would need against MACU in the first-half as Chance Sumner lofted a corner kick that found its way to the feet of senior Caleb Roberts who chipped the ball into the back of the net in the 33rd minute.
Just over 10 minutes later, Cheyne Roberts found senior Daniel Abrahamsohn for the team’s second goal as Abrahamsohn blasted home the goal to give the Fish a 2-0 lead.
The Sailfish defense, who allowed just one goal to Mid-Continent University in their opening round game, continued to play well as MACU was only able to muster two shots in the game including zero on goal. PBA junior goalkeeper Joe Yurchak earned the shutout while playing all 90 minutes.
