WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- With excitement brewing after a season-opening win over St. Thomas University on Saturday afternoon, the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s basketball team got a rude awakening on Wednesday as Rollins College stormed past the Sailfish by a final score of 76-44.

The Tars (2-0) jumped ahead of the Fish early on with some strong interior play by Ines Teuma and the solid guard play of Jennifer Pressley as the duo made easy work of the early defensive efforts for PBA.

RC jumped out to a 12-4 advantage at the 14:48 mark with a basket by Teuma and never looked back. Their lead would grow to as many as 25 points in the first-half as PBA never could get into an offensive rhythm. The two teams entered halftime with a 36-11 lead belonging to the Tars while PBA connected for just three field-goals in 26 attempts for a paltry 11.5% shooting percentage.

While PBA improved their shooting luck in the second period, the Tars would simply not allow for a Sailfish comeback as they tacked on forty more points in half number two to close out the victory.

Pressley led all scorers with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting while connecting for 4-of-6 shots from beyond the arc. Teuma registered 14 points and narrowly missed a double-double as the 6’2” senior collected nine boards on the night. Kournie Berry also reached double-figures for RC off the bench as she nailed down 10 points.

PBA was led by freshman Selethia Jackson who played some strong minutes especially in the second-half. The 6’1” Riveria Beach, Florida native led all Sailfish scorers with seven points while also pulling down nine rebounds. The Tars did a fantastic job denying PBA leading scorer Brooke Burgess as she was held to just five points while pulling down seven boards.

PBA will look to turn things around when they host Barry University on Friday, November 21st as the Fish welcome in the Bucs for a 7 pm showdown in the Rubin Arena.
