MONTEVALLO, Ala.- Hitting the road for a season opening tournament at the University of Montevallo Coca-Cola Classic, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s basketball team never quite got in a groove and came away disappointed in their 2008-2009 debut with an 86-66 defeat on Saturday evening to the host Falcons.

Behind five double-figure scorers, the Falcons pushed past the Fish while drilling an astonishing 19 three-pointers including 11 in the second-half as they pulled away late from PBA’s comeback efforts.

Senior David Powell led the scoring efforts for PBA as he totaled 22 points while connecting for 5-of-11 attempts from beyond the arc.

Newcomer Hunter Ross made a successful debut off the PBA bench as the 6’6” forward put together a solid showing with 15 points and five rebounds while registering a 6-for-10 shooting performance from the field.

The Fish will be back in action on Sunday afternoon at 3 pm when they take on the University of North Alabama in their final contest of the season-opening UM Coca Cola Classic Tournament.
