ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s soccer team had their senior night spoiled back on October 17th against St. Thomas University. Since then it has been three straight victories and a pair of senior night spoilings of their own as they pushed their win streak to three on Friday night as they took down Eckerd College 1-0 on the road.
After starting the season 1-13-2, the Lady Fish appear to be hitting their stride at just the right time as they have now put together a three-game win streak over the likes of Texas Southern University, St. Thomas University, and now Eckerd College.
On Friday night, the Fish utilized a goal midway through the first-half and then played solid defense the rest of the way as they fought off a number of close attacks by the Tritons.
In the 32nd minute, sophomore standout Angie Kuhn found teammate Brandi Bianco for the score. That would be all the offense the Fish would need as they would go on to tally their third straight shutout. Junior goalkeeper Ashley Morrell kept the Sailfish in the lead with a number of solid saves down the stretch as she collected her second straight shutout since returning from injury that forced her to miss four games in net for the Sailfish. She finished the night with seven saves.
Once again outshot by their opponent, this time 12-8 in favor of Eckerd, the Fish remained steady with their back line and kept the Tritons off the board and sealed the victory.
The Fish will now focus on the upcoming National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) South Regional Tournament that PBA will host beginning Friday, November 21st.
