TAMPA, Fla.- Continuing what has been a bitter and tough rivalry over the past few seasons, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s soccer team traveled to the University of Tampa on Tuesday evening to square off against the nationally-ranked Spartans. Scoring a goal in the 66th minute, the Spartans were able to hold back the Fish and take a 1-0 victory.

UT junior forward Pascal Milien slid past PBA’s last line of defense in the latter stages of the game and was able to beat PBA goalkeeper Joe Yurchak for the game’s only goal either team would be able to muster.

After holding the Spartans (8-2-1) to only two shots in the first-half compared to three of their own, the Sailfish were unable to be quite as efficient in half number two as UT centered 12 shots in the second-half including the game-winner by Milien. Ryan Griffin assisted on the goal. PBA produced six shots in the game’s second period.

Yurchak tallied four saves in goal while UT keeper Ryan Thompson also collected four saves as he earned the victory.

PBA will look to right the ship in another important Region contest on Saturday, October 11th as they travel to Nova Southeastern University for a 7 pm matchup.
