LAKELAND, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s soccer team was unable continue their momentum from Saturday’s historic tie against Lynn University on Tuesday evening as they fell 4-0 to Florida Southern College. The loss drops PBA to 1-6-1 on the season.
With their defense bending but not breaking against a potent Lynn attack on Saturday, Sailfish fans had reason to believe that Tuesday’s matchup with FSC would perhaps bring a victory to PBA. That wouldn’t be the case however as the Mocs pushed across one first-half goal followed by three more in the second-half to take the victory.
“We definitly let off the gas today and instead of pushing for the equalizer, we found ourselves two goals down on something we have to get better at,” said head coach James Kryger after the loss.
“Our leaders have to be more involved and we need to continue improving our fitness. We cannot be stagnant in our development at this stage. We will refocus and try again Saturday Lord willing,” continued Kryger.
Both defenses held strong for the opening 35 minutes or so until the Moc’s Princess Haley found teammate Linda Hoglund for a score which gave FSC a lead they would take into halftime.
Haley got into the action again in the second-half as she scored the Mocs second goal in the 66th minute followed up two minutes later on a goal from Alex Hoover.
FSC would tack on one more goal from Therese Dahlshold to cap the 4-0 victory.
PBA’s Ashley Morrell saved seven shots in goal for the Fish.
