Box Score

MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Wrapping up a solid road trip, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s soccer team came from behind on Saturday afternoon to take a 3-1 victory over Christian Brothers University and improved their season record to 5-1. PBA defeated Delta State University 2-1 on Thursday as a part of their Southeast swing in which they defeated two solid regional opponents.

In recent games the Sailfish would score early and then appear to become content with a lead. That wouldn’t be the case on Saturday as CBU struck first as the Bucs’ Brenden Ross connected from the top left corner of the box in the 28th minute to push the home-standing Bucs to a 1-0 advantage.

Junior Cheyne Roberts would knot the score for PBA nearly ten minutes later as he scored the first Sailfish goal of the afternoon on a long free kick that made its way into the back of the net.

That would be all the scoring for the first-half as both teams entered in a dead heat in goals (1), shots (4), and corner kicks (3).

After a tough first 15 minutes of the second-half, the Sailfish offense would get back in gear as senior Dan Dodge tallied his third goal in two games off a double-assist from senior Chance Sumner and sophomore Kyle Crouse in the 61st minute of action.

Now leading 2-1 and still battling on both ends of the field, senior Daniel Abrahamsohn would ice the game in the 81st minute as he won a loose ball in the box after the Bucs failed to clear a previous shot. Abrahamsohn’s fourth goal of the season gave PBA the cushion it would need down the stretch.

Junior Joe Yurchak continued his good work in the nets as he stopped four shots while allowing just the one goal in 90 minutes of work. CBU’s Daniel Foster took the loss as he allowed all three goals while also registering three saves.

Now 5-1 and winners of three straight, the Sailfish will take on Palm Beach County rival Lynn University in their next contest as they travel to nearby Boca Raton, Florida for a 4 pm showdown versus the Fighting Knights on Wednesday, September 24th.
