WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- After a late start, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s and women’s tennis teams got under way on Wednesday afternoon at the South Olive Tennis Center in West Palm Beach. The results would all go the way of Barry University on this day as both the men’s and women’s teams swept the Sailfish 9-0.

While the scores may have indicated a blowout, several PBA players put forth solid performances including a very tight matchup at men’s number one doubles and number one singles as Brock Newton (Roanoka, Va.) and Paul Segodo (Benin, Africa) took Barry’s top duo to a close match throughout only to see the Bucs come away with an 8-6 victory.

Newton locked up with Barry’s Ales Svigely once again in singles where Svigely narrowly defeated Newton 6-4, 6-3.

The Bucs entered play ranked #7-nationally in men’s tennis while the Barry women’s team came in with a #16 national ranking.
