Friday night marked the beginning of our 2008 season.  With only a handful of training sessions with our new coach and no preseason games to prepare us, I did not know what to expect of our first game. But I could immediately tell we were going to have a good game as we started the first half. Every one of my teammates stepped onto the field prepared to do their best.

It was my first time playing Newberry, and I was not sure what to expect from them. They were a very strong team, and it was a very close game. We came out with a win after double over time. After a grueling 110 minutes, the final score was 2-1.

The best part about this game was the heart that my teammates showed. Even though some of our starters are struggling with painful injuries, none of them gave up. We definitely slowed down in the second half, but with the positive encouragement our coach was giving us throughout the game helped to keep us pushing till the end. I know we still have a lot to work on, but for the little time we had during preseason, I thought we did a GREAT job!

I am really excited that are season has begun! This may be my last season of soccer, and I really want to finish my soccer career strong. We have some great new players this year, and already our team chemistry has been awesome on and off the field. I can’t wait for our next games and season to progress! I know that God has great things in store for us on and off the field.
