WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Finishing up just before the rains came, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s tennis team got the busy weekend of Sailfish athletic events started in the right direction by defeating Saint Leo University 6-3 at Gaines Park in West Palm Beach.
PBA number one doubles duo of Brock Newton (Roanoke, Va.) and John Tilton (Blue Eye, Mo.) took the fall early on but the Fish were able to bounce back with wins at number two and three in the doubles area of the match.
Newton and number two singles player Paul Segodo (Benin, Africa) continued their undefeated streak to start the season with wins over the likes of Pablo Chavez and Brandon Stacey respectively which put the match in the firm grasps of the Sailfish.
Now 3-0 to start the season, the PBA tennis team will face a daunting task in their next opponent when they travel to nearby Boca Raton, Florida to take on Lynn University next week. The #1-ranked and defending NCAA Division II National Champions Knights will welcome in the Fish on Tuesday afternoon at 2 pm.
