PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Sailfish men’s golfer David Liu competed at the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship this weekend, and had an impressive showing, as he finished second in the Men’s Individual Section of the tournament. Liu shot rounds of 74, 69, and 70 in the tournament to finish at three-under par.

Liu won the tournament in 2016, and lost by five shots this year to Nabeel Khan from the University of Connecticut who finished at eight-under par. Liu’s second-round 69 was tied for the lowest round of the day Saturday, but wasn’t able to catch Khan, who shot a final-round 68 on Sunday.

Liu finished the 2017 season for the Sailfish with a 73.8 scoring average, which led the team. The Sailfish had their most successful season since bringing the program back, as they received votes in the GCAA National Poll on multiple occasions this season.
