TEMPE, Ariz. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s and women’s tennis teams were well represented during the announcement of the ITA Regional and National Awards this week during the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

Both the men’s and women’s teams were named both National and South Region recipients of the ITA Community Service Award. The teams served the community close to 400 hours collectively, working with First Serve of the Palm Beaches four days a week during the fall. They also helped to promote and fundraise for Tennis for Better Life Foundation in Naples and worked the PBA Easter Egg Hunt during the spring.

Both the men’s and women’s teams were also represented on an individual level as Pietro de Silva and Michaela Mignemi were each honored as the South Region recipient of the ITA/Aruther Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award. This award takes into account not only a player’s tennis accomplishments, but also factors in academic achievements and extracurricular endeavors.
