Calderone Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – On Thursday Palm Beach Atlantic senior outfielder Andrew Calderone was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, becoming the first baseball player to earn that distinction.

The power-hitting left fielder hast posted a .352 batting average with eight home runs and a team-high 41 runs batted in. He’s started in 31 games for the Sailfish, mostly in left field and has become a middle of the order threat for a team that’s currently 26-21.

He leads the team in slugging with a .648 percentage and is tied for the team lead with four triples to go along with his six doubles. He’s scored 33 runs this season after missing most of last year due to injury.

Calderone will now to up for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors which will be announced on June 1.

To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must have a 3.30 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore academically and have spent one full year at their current institution.
