Kayla Knight Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Senior Kayla Knight was named to the 2016 College Sports Information Director of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Softball Team Thursday afternoon.

Knight is the school’s career leader in runs scored with 124, as well as triples with 22 to close out the regular season of her senior year. She is also two hits shy of tying the all-time record for the university.

The senior also set the single-season mark for triples this year with 12 while batting .388 on the year and adding 64 hits in 165 at-bats. She has been given 24 free passes this season, swiped 10 bags, and driven in 23 runs.

Knight was named to the All-District First Team in 2016.

The 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America teams will be announced on May 24.

To be eligible for nomination student-athletes must have a 3.30 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore academically and have spent one full year at their current institution.
