Men's Tennis Knocked Out of SSC Tournament

BRADENTON, Fla. – No. 49 Palm Beach Atlantic saw their time in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament end quickly on Thursday, falling to No. 8 Lynn University 5-0 in the quarterfinals.

The ‘Fish (12-9) entered the tournament as the No. 6 seed but couldn’t get on track against the No. 3 seeded Fighting Knights (18-4) on Thursday. Despite a strong effort at No. 1 doubles Rafael Lenz and Bernardo Ferreira came up just short against Florian Clemares and Mehdi Laalej, losing 8-6.

The Sailfish weren’t able to take a point at either of the other doubles matches as the Fighting Knights took the second flight 8-3 before finishing off the sweep 8-2 at the third spot.

In singles Lynn took the top two spots in straight sets as the final four matches were stopped once the team match was decided. Thomas Salmon was the lone ‘Fish to win a set, taking the first down at No. 6 by a score of 7-6 (10-8) before trailing in the second 4-0 when the match was stopped.

PBA closes out the season with their fourth straight winning season at 12-9 overall and posted a 2-5 mark in the SSC, their first season of eligibility in the standings and for the conference tournament.
