WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women’s tennis entered the first NCAA South Region Rankings at No. 8 as the poll was released on Wednesday afternoon.
Six teams will advance to the NCAA South Regional Tournament that begins on May 1. The Sailfish sit at 11-10 after a heartbreaking 5-4 loss on Wednesday evening to Nova Southeastern. At the time of the poll the ‘Fish were 10-9 against DII competition and 7-7 against teams in the region.
The Sailfish have been led by junior Michaela Mignemi who has posted a 15-4 record in singles play and is 16-4 in doubles. PBA has shown their strength in the middle of the singles lineup with a combined 34-28 record from the three, four and five spots. A big reason for that record has been Taylor Conti who is 12-8 overall this year including a 12-6 record at number three.
PBA is also competing for a spot in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament which begins on April 20. The ‘Fish are currently in a tie for seventh in the league with a 2-5 record. The top eight teams will qualify for this year’s tournament in Bradenton.
The Sailfish will close out the regular season with two matches on the road, first a trip to Lakeland on Saturday for a 1 p.m. match followed by a trip to Florida Tech on Friday, April 14.
