WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Opening up the 2008 campaign in grand fashion by welcoming out the kids and parents from First Serve as well as a tough opponent in Florida Tech, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s tennis team took care of business on Saturday afternoon while pushing to a 6-3 victory.

Pairing up teams with similar national rankings (PBA #37, FIT #39), the home-standing Fish didn’t disappoint on Saturday afternoon as they dominated early on their way to a 6-3 decision at Gaines Park in West Palm Beach.

“It was a solid showing, but we need to close our matches earlier if we hope to be a dominant team throughout the season,” said head coach Chi Ly.

Coach Ly and his veteran squad jumped out early on the visiting Panthers and never looked back.

“We dominated 1-4 in singles which is very encouraging but we must improve on the back end of our rotation to be able to compete with the elite teams of the region,” continue Ly.

Now 1-0 to start the season, PBA will look ahead to their next outing which is set to take place on February 6th when they travel to Miami Gardens, Florida for a matchup with St. Thomas University.
