Women's Tennis Wins Third Straight, Defeats St. Thomas 8-1

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women’s tennis picked up their third straight win on Saturday, defeating St. Thomas 8-1 at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
The Sailfish used the match against the local NAIA school to work in everyone into the lineup with Florencia Roncatti and Michala Burns both getting into the action in singles play with Burns picking up a victory. Dezi Bowman got into the doubles lineup, picking up a win alongside Maja Jovic.
PBA swept doubles play with Jovic and Bowman cruising to an 8-1 victory at the number three spot. Valerie Nagovitcina and Taylor Conti picked up their second straight win together, defeating Victoria Slavina and Ksenia Slavina, 8-5. Romina Bolagay and Michaela Migenmi continue to rack up the wins, earning an 8-3 decision at number two to improve to 12-2 on the season.
In singles, Michaela Mignemi was up 4-0 in the first set against Naomi Maehama before she retired. For Mignemi it was her 11th win of the season and her ninth straight. Burns picked up her first win of the year, 6-0, 6-1, over Alexandria Curry at number six. Nagovitcina picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at number one to improve to 8-7.
Taylor Conti also picked up win number eight on the season with a 6-0, 6-2 take down of Ksenia Slavina in the third spot. Leoni Polzin had a tougher time but was still able to earn a win, defeating Victoria Slavina 7-5, 7-5 in the second position.
The Sailfish have won six of seven and will be back in action on Tuesday, hosting No. 6 Barry University at 3 p.m.
