WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – In a match that took two days and two venues to complete, the No. 46 PBA men’s tennis team won for the third straight match, defeating Queens (NY) 8-1 on Tuesday evening.

The match was started on Monday in Orlando but postponed due to rain after doubles and finished on Tuesday at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center after the Knights took on nearby Lynn University earlier in the day.

The Sailfish (8-3) have won seven of eight after another dominating performance. The ‘Fish swept through doubles play on Monday with three tight wins. Both number one and number three went to a tiebreak where PBA ultimately prevailed.

Rafael Lenz and Bernardo Ferreira picked up their sixth win of the season at number one to defeat the No. 11 ranked duo of Roman Laga and Sharvill Nawghre 8-7 (7-6). Philipp Hoffmann and Thomas Salmon earned their fifth win of the season at number three, 9-8 (7-4) over Richard Sec and Federico Toscano. Improving to 7-1 on the year was Pato Zarazua and Pietro de Silva who held off Jui Mao and Cosme Jubera 9-7.

In singles play the ‘Fish flexed their muscle, winning each of the top five matches in the lineup with four in straight sets. Ferreira picked up his team-leading eighth win but needed three sets to do it after dropping the first to Sec. After falling behind in the match with a 6-2 loss in the first, Ferreira bounced back to take the second and third 6-3.

Rafael Lenz only dropped one game in his match, knocking off Lucas Martinez 6-1, 6-0 while Hoffmann was nearly equally as good. The freshman only allowed his foe, Nawghre, to take two games as Hoffmann won 6-2, 6-0. De Silva and Zarazua were also straight set winners in the match.

The Sailfish will make their final scheduled trip to Orlando for the year on Thursday as they’re scheduled to take on Post University at 3 p.m.
