BOCA RATON, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic baseball had their seven-game winning streak snapped Friday as they fell to Lynn University 11-2. The Knights pounded out 14 hits in the game, scoring all of their runs in the sixth inning or later to improve to 15-6 on the season. Palm Beach Atlantic falls to 13-7 as the season series between the teams is now tied 1-1.

The game began as a pitching duel, as starting pitchers Josh Turner and Donovan Armas were putting zero after zero up on the scoreboard. The Sailfish were able to plate the first run of the game in the fifth inning, as Eddie Vicinanza reached base on a walk, and after advancing to second on a wild pitch, stole third base. Jake Summey drove in Vicinanza with a single to center field.

The Fighting Knights answered in the bottom of the sixth, as they plated three runs on four hits and a Sailfish error. Sloppy play proved costly for the ‘Fish Friday, as they made four errors in the game.

After sloppy Lynn defense let the Sailfish cut the lead to 3-2 in the top of the seventh, another Sailfish error and timely Knight hitting led to two more runs for Lynn to open a 5-2 lead.

Lynn poured it on the ‘Fish in the eighth inning, scoring 6 runs to win the game 11-2. Turner picks up the loss on the day, as he falls to 1-1 on the season despite a quality start, throwing six innings, and allowing three earned runs while striking out five hitters.

Summey finished with three hits at the plate, as Sean Visconti finished 2-for-3. Vicinanza scored both Sailfish runs on the day, reaching on a walk and a hit-by-pitch. Evan Dougherty’s 18 game hitting streak was snapped Friday with a 0-for-5 day at the plate. The streak was the longest for the ‘Fish since Brian Walker’s 21 game streak in 2015.

The teams will return to Lynn University tomorrow to play a doubleheader, which will begin at 11 a.m.
