Sailfish Tennis Starts Spring Break Trip With 7-2 Victory Over Catawba

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Palm Beach Atlantic men’s tennis picked up a win in their first match during their spring break trip on Sunday, defeating Catawba College 7-2.
The ‘Fish (2-2) got off to a good start with a sweep of doubles. In singles action PBA was able to win at each of the top two spots while also winning at the fourth and sixth positions.
Pato Zarazua was a straight sets winner at number one singles, defeating Michael Patch 7-5, 6-1. Zarazua teamed up Pietro de Silva at number two doubles to win 8-3. Rafael Lenz and Bernardo Ferreira were also winners in both singles and doubles play with both picking up straight sets wins in singles at number two and number four. They were paired together in doubles at the top spot and were victorious 8-4.
At number three doubles it was Philipp Hoffmann and Thomas Salmon who had the easiest win of the day, 8-1, over Iago Nunez and Brad Smethurst. Hoffmann was unable to pull out the victory in singles play, falling 7-6 (7-2), 6-7 (5-7), 11-9.
Stanislav Feofilov made his first start in singles play this season, winning at the number six position 6-0, 4-6, 10-8. Carlos Meneses also got a start in singles, falling at number five to Cason Hiers 6-1, 6-2.
The ‘Fish play their only nationally ranked opponent of the trip on Monday, taking on No. 50 Chowan at noon.
