Sailfish Drop Season Finale To Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sailfish led early but were held to 25 percent shooting in a season-ending 56-46 loss at the hands of Florida Tech on Saturday.
PBA finishes the season at 8-18 and 4-14 in the Sunshine State Conference. The Panthers improve to 13-13 overall and 8-10 in league play. FIT will advance to the SSC Tournament that begins on Wednesday.
Ayanna Holmes scored a team-high 14 points for the ‘Fish, doing most of her damage at the free throw line. The senior made 8-of-10 at the stripe as PBA connected on 18-of-24 from that spot in the game. Holmes added four rebounds and two assists.
The Panthers pushed their lead out to 14 late in the second quarter but the Sailfish closed the gap with a 12-3 run to go into halftime down by just five. Holmes scored eight of her 14 in the first half as Hannah Grim and Nikkira Brown each added seven in the first 20 minutes.
In the second half the ‘Fish kept it within striking distance but were never able to go on a big run to take a lead or even things up. PBA shot just 15 percent in the second half, making only 4-of-26 from the floor. Holmes and Grim scored six each in the half as Grim finished with 13 in the game. Only four players scored for the Sailfish in the second half.
Grim added a team-high six rebounds as did Rachael Holehouse. Holehouse scored two points and added an assist. Brown closed out her career with 10 points.
