No. 46 Sailfish Fall to No. 8 Lynn, 9-0

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The No. 46 Palm Beach Atlantic men’s tennis team was shutout on Friday, falling to No. 8 Lynn by a final score of 9-0.

The ‘Fish (1-2, 0-1 SSC) fought well in doubles action despite having to shuffle the lineup. Pato Zarazua and Pietro de Silva moved up to play at No. 1 and gave a solid effort, eventually falling 8-4 to Kay Bartmann and Jakub Jiricka. Rafael Lenz and Stanislav Feofilov were put together for the first time this season and nearly came away with the victory at the third spot, falling 8-5 to Jean-Baptiste Mateo and Jose Porfirio.

In singles play it was Lenz who put up the best fight before eventually falling in three sets. Lenz took the first from Florian Clemares 6-2, but dropped the second 7-6 (10-8) after dropping two match points. In the third set it was Clemares able to pull out the victory 10-2. De Silva had a solid showing down at number five, but couldn’t overcome Jiricka who won 6-3, 7-5.

The ‘Fish will head up to Orlando to take on Rose-Hulman on Wednesday before returning home to battle Barry University on Friday, March 3.
