Sailfish Women's Tennis Comes Up Short Against Tars

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic’s women’s tennis team gave a good effort but came up short against No. 38 Rollins on Sunday, falling 6-3 to the Tars.

The ‘Fish (1-2, 0-1 SSC) fell behind 2-1 after doubles as Romina Bolagay and Michaela Mignemi were the lone winners for PBA. The duo improved to 2-1 on the season with an 8-4 victory at the third position. The Sailfish shuffled the top of their doubles lineup with Taylor Conti and Maja Jovic moving up to the top spot. They ultimately fell to Fabiana Vitanza and Carlye Goldman, 8-2. Valerie Nagovitcina was paired with Dezi Bowman for the first time this season at number two but they were unable to come away with the victory, falling 8-4 against Alexandra Borg and Savanna Fuller.

In singles play it was Bolagay and Conti who both picked up straight sets victories for PBA. Bolagay moved up to play at number two and came away with a 6-4, 6-4 defeat of regionall-ranked Goldman. Conti was the last one off the court, holding off Borg for a 7-5, 6-4 win. Both Conti and Bolagay improve to 2-1 on the season.

PBA returns home to take on No. 3 Lynn on Friday along with the men. Those matches are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
