Volleyball Ranked No. 6 in Final AVCA Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After reaching the NCAA Semifinals the Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball team moved up four spots to finish the year ranked No. 6 by the AVCA.

The ‘Fish closed out the year 32-4 after falling to Alaska Anchorage in the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament on Friday in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Seawolves moved up from No. 9 to No. 3 in the final poll after losing to Concordia-St. Paul who was the unanimous No. 1 team.

PBA rode a 32-match winning streak – a new school record – to their second straight NCAA South Region championship in 2016 and had three players claim AVCA All-America honors. Junior Sarah Ragland became the second player in program history named a first team selection while sophomore Ally Rohn earned third team honors and fellow sophomore Molly Burkhardt was an honorable mention.

Three teams in the top-5 missed out on the Elite 8 all came from the tough Central Region in Southwest Minnesota State (No. 2), Winona State (No. 4) and Nebraska-Kearney (No. 5). Overall the region had six teams in the top-10 and nine in the top-15.

The South Region was represtened also featured No. 24 Tampa as well was Florida Southern, North Alabama and West Florida who were all receiving votes.
