DELAND, Fla.- Playing their second game in less than 24 hours, the Sailfish looked lethargic Saturday afternoon as they took on NCAA Division I Stetson University, falling 89-50 in an exhibition contest. With the game being an exhibition, the loss does not affect the Sailfish record and they remain 3-6 on the year.

A slow start cost the Sailfish as the Hatters jumped out to a 23-8 lead in the opening frame. Stetson shot 53.8 (7-of-13) percent from the field compared to PBA’s 17.6 (3-of-17) percent.

The Sailfish offense started to warm up in the second quarter, as the ‘Fish shot 35.3 (6-of-17) percent, but the Hatters were not fazed, as they shot 50 (13-for-25) percent in the quarter, sending the game to halftime with a score of 41-24.

The shooting percentage continued to increase in the third quarter, as the ‘Fish shot 46.2 (6-of-13) percent from the field while Mina Salhia hit the only Sailfish attempt from distance, as PBA scored 17 points in the quarter. Unfortunately once again for the Sailfish, the Hatters continued to turn up the heat as they shot 58.8 (10-of-17) percent in the quarter while hitting 2-of-7 from downtown for 30 points in the third, extending their lead in the game to 71-41.

The fourth quarter did not fare well for either team, as the Hatters outscored the ‘Fish 18-9 in the final frame. The Sailfish shot a dismal 13.3 (2-15) percent in the quarter, with both shots landing from distance.

The Hatters defense forced PBA to force bad shots for most of the contest, as the Sailfish shot 27.4 (17-62) percent from the field and hit 12-of-16 from the charity stripe on the afternoon.

The only Sailfish to score in double figures on the afternoon was Hannah Grim. She finished with 11 points, hitting three field goals with one from distance while shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the stripe.

Leading the ‘Fish on the glass was freshman Aniyah Ross. The Orlando, Fla. native snagged six boards for the Sailfish, while connecting on 2-of-4 from the field as well.

Leading the Hatters Saturday afternoon was Breana Bey, one of two Hatters with a double-double. She finished 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Sarah Sagerer finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Sailfish return to action Dec. 18 and 19 at home for the PBA Holiday Hoops Classic, as they take on Shaw University on the 18th at 3:30 p.m. and then they take on Bellarmine University on the 19th at 2:30 p.m.
