Men's Golf, Liu, Wrap Up Impressive Fall

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The 2016 Sailfish men’s golf team had their most successful fall season yet since bringing the program back four years ago, defeating several top-10 teams along the way. The most impressive finish for the ‘Fish was a fifth place finish at the GolfRank Invitational in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. as they defeated highly ranked Nova Southeastern and Florida Southern.

The team finished sixth in all of NCAA Division II in Par 3 scoring as junior David Liu finished first in Division II in Par 3 scoring, averaging 2.8 strokes per Par 3. Liu also finished in a tie for fourth nationally in total birdies this fall with 54, as he finished the fall with a scoring average of 73.14.

The team’s impressive fall has them getting national attention, as they are currently receiving votes in the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) National Coaches Poll for the first time. There are seven Sunshine State Conference Teams in the poll, as the Sailfish are currently receiving nine votes.

The Sailfish will begin the 2017 portion of their season at the Titan Winter Invitational on Feb. 6-7 in Melbourne, Fla.
