Volleyball To Host NCAA South Regional For Second Straight Season

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – For the second straight year the Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball team will host the South Region Tournament after the NCAA released the bracket for the 64-team field on Monday evening.
The No. 10 Sailfish are riding a 28-match winning streak after completing a perfect 20-0 mark against teams in the Sunshine State Conference and will be the top seed again in this year’s tournament. They will face Kentucky State for the second straight year, the winner of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
PBA is in the tournament for the fifth consecutive year after a perfect 25-0 record against teams in the South Region. The Sailfish began the year ranked No. 3 in the AVCA Top-25 and fell to No. 19 after opening the season with three losses. From that point the ‘Fish have steadily rose up the rankings and sit at No. 10 in the final regular season poll released earlier Monday.
Tampa will be the No. 3 seed and take on No. 6 Lynn in the tournament’s first match at noon on Thursday, Dec. 1. Following that match will be No. 2 Saint Leo – winners of the Sunshine State Conference – against No. 7 Florida Southern. That match will begin at 2:30 p.m. The Argonauts of West Florida are the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 North Alabama at 5 p.m. which is followed by PBA-Kentucky State at 7:30 p.m.
The semifinals will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday with the winners of the first two matches facing off. The Sailfish would potentially play in the second semifinal against West Florida-North Alabama at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The championship match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.
